Engineers Ireland’s Annual Project Management Society seminar, held in partnership with ESB and CORA Systems, will take place on Thursday, October 8.

Offered online through Zoom, the seminar, The Next Generation of Project Management, aims to give practising project management professionals an insight into the latest thinking and high-profile projects that will shape the next generation of project management, providing key learnings that will enable them to better deliver their projects.

Facing greater challenges

Projects of all sizes are facing greater challenges to succeed than ever before – from clients, stakeholders and the environment.

Managing resources, risks and stakeholders requires not just a knowledge of the principles of project management but an insight into the latest project management developments and the critical factors that differentiate those projects that deliver success from those that don’t.

The Project Management Society is a dedicated group for engineers and project management professionals and aims to promote a greater understanding of project management as a key element of engineering projects.

The seminar will be chaired by John McGrath, course director, MSc Project Management, TU Dublin. John Kelly, director of projects at ESB, will present on his work with the Grousemount wind farm, Ireland’s largest standalone onshore facility.

Innovative response

Niall Dillon, director of construction at Intel, will give a presentation on the organisation's innovative response to COVID-19 – the impact now and into the future, with Project Management – coming out of Covid even stronger, being the title of his talk.

Dr Gilbert Silivius' presentation will look at The Human factor in Sustainable Project Management, and Stephen Carver of Cranfield University will discuss Agility in Project Management.

The seminar will be of interest to anybody delivering significant projects, working as a project management professional, or who has an interest in developing a career in this area.
