Engineers Ireland has just completed a full refresh of its website, with an improved user interface and additional search features to allow for easier access to our extensive member resources.

Our recently released strategy, Empowering Innovation. Engineering the Future. 2024 – 2027, aims to position Engineers Ireland as a leader in the deployment of digital technologies. Having developed our new website five years ago, following a period of extensive stakeholder consultation and research, Engineers Ireland recently undertook an independent audit of user experiences and user interface.

The findings of that audit made recommendations in three core areas: site navigation, site search, and design and display. A new project to update the website, integration new design and features, was commenced at the beginning of this year and we are pleased to release our new refreshed website this week.

Site navigation has been enhanced by condensing the navigation menu, introducing a site Homepage and enhancing the interactive nature of lower tier navigation menus.

Site search now features a new interface to allow easier filtering for users and an additional new search introduced through an embedded ‘Search by Google’, in response to feedback from the audit.

Design and Display recommendations have resulted in a complete refresh of the site user interface and experience. Style sheets, content modules, layout, template designs, interactive elements, image consistency and spacing have all been updated to present the refreshed user interface and experience.

Speaking about Engineers Ireland’s website refresh Damien Owens, Director General of Engineers Ireland, said: “We are keen to ensure that the more than 30,000 members of our Institution can access the excellent materials and resources hosted on our website easily and intuitively. This website refresh, following on from the release of our mobile application last year, is just one in a series of initiatives that aims to leverage the latest digital technology to improve the experience of our members and derive even stronger value from their membership.”
