Engineers Ireland is the professional body for engineers and engineering in Ireland. 

With over 25,000 members across the island of Ireland and overseas, its focus is on the promotion and development of all disciplines of engineering, working collaboratively with industry, educational institutions, state bodies and the public service. The Director General (DG) leads a staff team of approximately 50 through the Senior Management Team (SMT) in the delivery of the institution's strategy around five strategic themes: to grow and diversify, to influence for impact, to drive standards and innovation, to champion sustainability and to strengthen its people, finances and technology.   The DG works closely with the President, Council and Executive Board to agree strategic themes and priorities, leads the SMT and facilitates the vital volunteer cohort to deliver on those priorities, fulfils the role of Council Secretary, safeguards the Roll of engineers, represents the institution with key stakeholders and ensures the continued financial sustainability of Engineers Ireland. 

The ideal candidate will work closely with the Council and Executive Board on the development and delivery of strategy, lead and develop the SMT, live the institution’s values while effectively communicating its vision and mission and have the credibility to engage with, and influence, a broad stakeholder community.   The Director General will be a highly results-oriented leader, demonstrating a depth of professional experience and judgement that will enrich the institution. He/she will be a natural collaborator and diplomat, possessing the personal integrity and impact to represent the profession through debate of current issues of relevance to engineering while also promoting a diverse and inclusive profession to future generations of engineers.
