Engineers Ireland's West region has launched a new national competition for engineering students at third-level on the island of Ireland, called This is Engineering.

Engineering students are asked to be creative and explain to school children in just a minute or less what engineering is. The students are asked to upload their short video to their own Instagram or Twitter account using the hashtags #ThisIsEngineering2021 and #STEPSEngineersWeek and tagging Engineers Ireland (@engineersIreland on Instagram and @EngineerIreland on Twitter). Entry is free and students have a chance of winning a share of a €700 prize fund.

Thanks to Dr Jamie Goggins of our Engineers Ireland West Region for this initiative, linking in with STEPS Engineers Week and Dr William Finnegan, Chair of the West Region. More information about entering this competition is available on the NUIG website here.

The deadline for entry is 11pm on Saturday 6 March and ten finalists will be selected for the 60-second This is Engineering Film Festival screening at 12 noon on 16 March, sponsored by our West Region.
