History of the Irish Pharmaceutical Industry on Tuesday, 8 February 2022 at 7:30pm

Join the Chemical and Process Engineering division for a free webinar by Dr Pat McCarthy who will outline how the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland grew from a small scale operator in the 1960's to become a global hub of the industry today. Dr McCarthy will reflect on the key individuals and companies involved in this development as well as the key strategic decisions that facilitated the growth of the industry. The pivot towards biotech and the development of the engineering design houses will also be discussed.

Engineering National Development: Circular Economy in the Built Environment on Wednesday on Wednesday 9 February at 7:00pm 

Join Dr Mark Kelly from GMIT,  Janet Lynch from Arup and Darragh Lynch of Darragh Lynch Architect who will explore how circular economy principles can be applied to the built environment sector so that we can deliver more sustainable buildings and infrastructure.

Urban Roads and Streets Design Series, commencing on 10 February at 12 noon 

Our Urban Roads and Streets Design Series, delivered in collaboration with the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and the Irish Planning Institute (IPI), is a series of free online workshops, highlighting the recent Government policy context, update to DMURS and a range of exemplary projects under taken by practitioners, local authorities and government agencies. 
 
The first session in the series will include a DMURS overview, policy background and perspective and will take place on Thursday, 10 February.

Engineering National Development: Building tomorrow's homes today: Offsite Construction Site Visit on Friday, 11 February 2022 at 2:00pm. 

This in-person event will take place at Cnoc na nDealg, Kinvara, Co. Galway. This development is the first offsite Passive Haus certified, Light Gauge Steel framed housing estate in the West.  On this site visit you will see the different stages of LGS construction from initial installation to finished product. The design challenges and detailing which enables this scalable modern method of construction deliver significant advantages over traditional forms of construction will also be examined. Registration is required for this event.
