Massachusetts-based SmashFly Technologies, which delivers software solutions to help some of the world’s largest companies run more effective recruitment campaigns, is opening an office in Belfast. The new investment will create 70 new roles and contribute over £3 million annually in salaries to the Northern Ireland economy. Invest NI has offered £455,000 towards the creation of the new roles.

Team will include software development engineers

The team will include software development engineers, with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence, but will also function as a full-scale sales, marketing, and operations hub for UK and European expansion. Welcoming the company to Belfast, Alan Wilson, head of international investment, Invest Northern Ireland said: “This new centre in Belfast is SmashFly’s first investment outside of the US. The company will be recruiting both graduate and experienced software engineering roles, plus a sales and marketing team. “The new centre will focus on developing new technology solutions to help grow the company’s customer base, looking at new features using artificial intelligence and GDPR compliance. The company also has ambitious growth plans, including breaking into the European market, which the team in Belfast will support.”

Software-as-a-Service platform driven by three core goals

SmashFly’s Software-as-a-Service platform is driven by three core goals: helping employers grow and understand their talent pipelines; enabling recruiters to target their recruitment activity on the most high-value candidates; and empowering employers to provide candidates with a truly consumer-like recruiting experience. Thom Kenney, SmashFly’s CEO, said: “While considering Northern Ireland to expand our global software development teams, we found a natural fit for SmashFly in a talented technical community that was eager to build complex, data-driven technology solutions. "We believe SmashFly presents a unique opportunity to be a part of a small, growing company that is making a measurable difference in people’s lives every day. “The Northern Ireland base affords SmashFly the opportunity to build a global brand, add enhanced support and service to the global customers we serve, and reach new customers in the UK and wider European markets. "The Belfast team will lead critical initiatives around artificial intelligence and machine learning, creating world-class technologies that define the future of talent acquisition.”
