iMedDoc and xWave team up to make radiology referrals simpler and faster for clinicians

iMedDoc, part of global healthcare technology company Lanas, today announced that it has partnered with xWave Technologies, an Irish healthtech company headquartered at NovaUCD in Dublin, to deliver a seamless, fully digital radiology referral workflow for clinicians across Ireland.

Support faster access to imaging

The integration embeds xWave Refer, xWave’s radiology referral platform, directly into the iMedDoc electronic medical record (EMR) system, enabling clinicians to create, send, and track referrals without leaving their workflow. The collaboration is designed to simplify the referral process, reduce administrative burden, and support faster access to imaging, helping clinicians focus more on patient care and less on manual tasks.

“Radiology referrals are a key part of patient care, but manual workflows and disconnected systems often slow things down,” said Stuart Van Rooyen, managing director, Lanas.

“By connecting iMedDoc with xWave, we’re giving clinicians a smoother, more reliable way to manage referrals - helping them save time, reduce stress, and ensure patients get the care they need quickly.”

Through the new integration, clinicians can generate radiology referrals directly within iMedDoc. This removes the need for paper forms, email attachments, and manual data entry, while ensuring real-time visibility of referral status. The digital workflow enhances communication between referrers and radiology teams, improves traceability, and supports the transition to fully paperless radiology operations.

The integration is already live at St Vincent’s Private Hospital (SVPH), where clinicians can now generate digital referrals directly from iMedDoc and the Clinical Portal.

Tim Aseervatham, healthcare/diagnostics informatics manager, SVPH said: “xWave Refer with CDS has allowed St. Vincent’s Private Hospital to generate digital referrals to support our radiology pathway. It’s a simple, effective solution that fits naturally into how we work at SVPH.”

Co-ordinated vendor interface testing

The hospital also highlighted the value of xWave’s support, Tim Aseervatham, added: “The xWave project team were true partners, they co-ordinated vendor interface testing, managed change control and post-go-live stabilisation. Their proactive communication kept our stakeholders engaged and confident throughout.”

iMedDoc is widely used by consultants and clinics across Ireland to manage patient records, appointments, and clinical workflows. Embedding xWave Refer directly into the EMR ensures clinicians can adopt the new workflow quickly and confidently, with secure data exchange supported by OAuth authentication and an intuitive design that fits naturally into existing processes.

“This partnership with Lanas marks a significant step in our mission to make high-quality imaging referrals easier and more accessible,” said Mitchell O’Gorman, Chief Executive Officer, xWave Technologies. “By embedding our referral platform directly into iMedDoc, we’re helping clinicians save time, reduce delays, and improve care - all within the systems they already use.”

Stuart van Rooyen at Lanas, added: “We’re delighted to collaborate with xWave Technologies to bring smarter referral workflows to iMedDoc users. This integration reflects our shared commitment to delivering secure, intuitive solutions that enhance productivity and outcomes for healthcare providers.”
