University of Limerick's Aeronautical Society High Powered Rocketry team, ULAS-HiPR, is ready for lift-off thanks to sponsorship from Analog Devices (ADI). The partnership aims to support the innovative endeavours of the student-led team, advancing their mission to deepen the understanding of high-powered rocketry and foster student engagement across Irish universities.
ULAS-HiPR, comprising approximately 35 students from diverse disciplines including aeronautical and software engineering, and design, is dedicated to designing, developing, and launching high-powered rockets. The team showcases their talents internationally by participating in prestigious competitions such as MACH-24 and EUROC.
Continuous guidance and technical expertise
ADI’s sponsorship has been instrumental in procuring essential components for ULAS-HiPR’s Mach-24 rocket, Morrígu, enabling the team to compete in Scotland this July. The collaboration extends beyond financial support, with ADI providing continuous guidance and technical expertise, enhancing the educational experience for ULAS-HiPR members.
The collaboration was inaugurated with a visit to ADI Catalyst in Raheen, where ULAS-HiPR and ADI shared their work and explored potential synergies.
The ULAS-HiPR team witnessed the cutting-edge technology developed by ADI, particularly in industrial, communications, automotive and aerospace.
The visit also featured a showcase of ULAS-HiPR’s progress, including their first high-powered rocket, Sionna. ADI experts shared valuable advice and assistance which has been especially beneficial to ULAS-HiPR’s CanSat team, helping them in refining their projects.
As ULAS-HiPR’s first sponsor, ADI has significantly boosted the team's confidence and credibility. By highlighting ULAS-HiPR’s efforts on their social media platforms, ADI has helped expose rocketry and space engineering to a broader audience, inspiring future generations of engineers and scientists.
