MTU lecturer and researcher chosen for Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list for fourth time

Dr Mubashir Husain Rehmani from Munster Technological University (MTU) has been selected for inclusion on the annual Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list from Clarivate.

Dr Rehmani’s work focuses on wireless networks, blockchain, cognitive radio networks, smart grid, and software-defined networks. Dr Rehmani's performance in this context features in the top 1% in computer science.

Work has been recognised internationally

More precisely, in the domain of computer science, telecommunications, and engineering, his research work has been recognised internationally, and he is the recipient of several best paper awards.

Dr Mubashir Husain Rehmani from Munster Technological University.

Dr Rehmani is also a recipient of the Science Foundation Ireland CONNECT Centre’s Education and Public Engagement (EPE) Award in 2022. He received his PhD in computer science from Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris in 2011.

Highly Cited Researchers demonstrate significant and broad influence in their fields of research.

This small fraction of the global researcher population contributes disproportionately to extending the frontiers of knowledge and contributing to innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable and which drive societal impact.

Each researcher selected has authored a minimum number of Highly Cited Papers (research documents which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field(s) and publication year in the Web of Science Core Collection over the past eleven years) and has a minimum number of citations.

The broader selection process is designed to spotlight researchers who exemplify excellence in their research as well as integrity in their publication and citation practices.

The addition of enhanced filters to address hyper-authorship, excessive self-citation, anomalous citation patterns, and more ensures that recognised researchers meet the benchmarks required for our Highly Cited Researchers program and emphasises our commitment to research integrity.

'Honoured and happy'

Dr Rehmani said: “I have no words to express my feelings. This is indeed an honour for me to see my name in the Highly Cited Researchers 2025 List. I am so honoured and happy!”

David Pendlebury, head of research analysis at the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate, said: “The Highly Cited Researchers list identifies and celebrates exceptional individual researchers at Munster Technological University (MTU) who demonstrate significant and broad influence in their fields.

"They exemplify excellence in their research as well as integrity in their publication and citation practices. These researchers continue to shape the future of science, technology and academia globally and deliver innovation that drives societal progress.”
