Roadbridge is pushing ahead with progress on the Dublin Airport North Runway project, a key piece of national infrastructure that includes the construction of a 3,110m runway which is about 1.69km north of the existing main runway, within the existing Dublin airport landbank.

Project manager Paraic McCarthy has said “works are progressing well with earthworks and drainage substantially complete. Pavement Quality Concrete has also commenced and is 25% complete”.

This key piece of national infrastructure includes the construction of a 3,110m runway approximately 1.69km north of the existing main runway, within the existing Dublin Airport landbank.

Our involvement with the project began in December 2016 when we were awarded the North Runway Construction Package 1 (NRCP1) enabling works contract, prior to being awarded the main works contract (NRCP2) in September 2018 with the runway scheduled to be completed in 2021.

The project is critical to boost Ireland’s air connectivity, which is vital for economic growth. Key project statistics to date include:

• 409,369 manhours worked
• 19,550m of drainage laid
• 32,801m³ Dry Lean Concrete (DLC) subbase laid
• 13,347m³ Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) laid
• 240 workers onsite
• 133 items of plant onsite
• 25,000m of ducting laid
