Ventilux launches new CPD programme for emergency lighting professionals

Ventilux is introducing a new series of online CPD sessions launching this month – March 2026 – designed to support professionals who work with emergency lighting across both the UK and Ireland.

Delivered by Ventilux’s Emergency Lighting Specialists, the programme provides practical guidance on the latest standards, as well as clear advice on selecting the most appropriate systems for different building types and applications.

Emergency lighting plays a critical role in life safety, yet system selection, compliance requirements and maintenance responsibilities can often be complex.

Ventilux CPD Programme – Session Overview

System choice: A practical session exploring how to select the most appropriate emergency lighting system for a project. It compares:

  • Self-contained luminaires;
  • Central battery systems;
  • Static inverter solutions;
  • Generator-backed systems.

The session also highlights common design pitfalls that can lead to compliance or operational challenges later in a building’s lifecycle.

Emergency lighting standards: This session provides a clear walkthrough of the latest regulatory framework, alongside relevant European standards. Key topics include:

  • System classifications;
  • Light level requirements;
  • Duration and response times;
  • Escape route and open area lighting;
  • High-risk task area requirements;
  • Emergency exit signage.

It also explains the key updates introduced in the latest revisions, helping professionals stay aligned with evolving legislation.

Testing systems: Testing and maintenance are essential for ensuring emergency lighting systems remain compliant and operational. This CPD explores the different testing approaches, including:

  • Manual testing;
  • Self-test systems;
  • CTU solutions;
  • Fully automated testing platforms.

The session focuses on legal responsibilities for ongoing maintenance while examining lifecycle cost, system reliability and ways to reduce disruption and human error.

Central Battery & Static Inverter Systems (Two-Part Session): Designed for projects requiring larger or more complex emergency lighting infrastructure.

Part 1 – System Fundamentals - Covers how static inverter systems operate, including battery technologies, environmental considerations, bypass arrangements and system monitoring.

Part 2 – Design & Specification - Focuses on practical design considerations such as system sizing, inrush current, fault clearance, sub-circuit monitoring, cabling requirements and inverter room layout. The session also explores the role of DALI monitoring in larger installations.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) schedule

All sessions are delivered online, with dedicated UK and Ireland sessions to ensure the content reflects local legislation and design expectations.

  • 20/03/2026 – System Choice;
  • 17/04/2026 – Emergency Lighting Standards;
  • 08/05/2026 – Testing Systems;
  • 22/05/2026 – CBS Part 1;
  • 05/06/2026 – CBS Part 2.

The launch of the CPD programme also coincides with an important milestone for the company. In 2026, Ventilux celebrates 40 years in business – a journey built on technical excellence, continuous innovation and a strong people-first culture.

What began as a family-led enterprise has grown into an internationally recognised emergency lighting manufacturer, with generations of expertise now shaping the business.

Looking ahead, Ventilux continues to invest in product development focused on sustainability, intelligent system integration and long-term reliability. Alongside new product releases planned for 2026, the company will also introduce extended product warranties, increasing coverage from 6 to 8 years to support evolving regulatory, environmental and operational requirements across global markets.
