The STEPS Young Engineers Award is a project-style competition aimed at 3rd and 4th class primary school students in the Republic of Ireland. An optional, but important and much-loved, part of the students’ engineering journey is for the teams to present their projects. This is where you come in!
The STEPS Volunteer Engineer Programme is a nationwide community of engineers who want to inspire young people as an engineering role model.
Our Volunteer Engineers visit a class taking part in the STEPS Young Engineers Award competition to listen to the student’s engineering project presentations and to tell the class about their lives as an engineer.
Volunteering is a great way to give back. Meeting an engineering role model, and getting encouraging feedback, is one of the most impactful ways for young people to gain confidence and make more informed choices.
If you are looking for a rewarding, meaningful experience as well as a way to gain CPD Credits, you should consider becoming one of our STEPS Young Engineers Award volunteers.
All our volunteers must attend one of our annual online STEPS training sessions that are held in September. Sessions are approximately 90 minutes. There are multiple sessions for you to choose one training session at a time that suits you!
Once you have completed a volunteer training session you will be invited to sign up online up as a STEPS Volunteer Engineer. Once you have been accepted you will receive a Volunteer Pack.
