The Transportation Society represents individuals interested in transportation both in Ireland and internationally. In recent years, the Society has hosted seminars, lunchtime events, and site visits covering a wide range of transportation topics. These include rail, active travel, public transport, new publications, motorways, road safety, international projects, and transport history, among many others.
Typically, the Society holds lunchtime seminars twice a month on Thursdays, as well as an Annual Seminar in March. The Annual Seminar focuses on topical issues in the field of Transport Engineering. Past speakers have included former Ministers for Transport, representatives from state bodies such as the National Transport Authority and Transport Infrastructure Ireland, academics from institutions like Trinity College Dublin, and private consultants presenting specific projects.
We strongly encourage anyone with an interest in transportation in Ireland to get involved, whether by attending events or sharing interesting projects that others might learn from. If you would like to participate, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Some recent Transportation Society events have included:
- Technical presentations including “Fundamentals of Saturn,” and “Using BIM to Manage Highway Flooding.”
- Webinars on topics such as “Neurodiversity in Transportation,” and “Modern After Usage of Wind Turbine Blades.”
