The West Region is a focal point for members across all sectors of engineering based in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. The Region has a rich engineering heritage, cutting-edge industries and two higher education institutions: Atlantic Technological University and University of Galway.
The Region provides CPD and social networking events for engineers of all grades and disciplines. The West Region is home to Gaeltacht areas of Galway and Mayo and welcomes participation ‘as Gaeilge’ including an annual Léacht as Gaeilge.
The noteworthy activities of the West Region have included:
- “Realised Vision, an exhibition of landmark engineering projects in the Region, and Engineering the West to 2020”, a comprehensive set of recommendations for the sustainable development of the Region
- Site visits to MMC Residential buildings, showcasing the Light Gauge Steel apartments, duplexes and houses
- Social events, including the Engineers Ireland West Region Ball
