Mechanical Engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of machines and mechanical implements.

Manufacturing Engineering (also industrial engineering or production engineering) is concerned with the organisation of a factory so that products are fabricated and assembled to the specified design, having specified tolerances etc., at the required rate, from appropriate materials, at the least cost on the equipment available.

Many mechanical engineers spend their careers working in manufacturing industry.

The Mechanical & Manufacturing division committee works closely with the committee of IMechE Republic of Ireland Region to organise events such as lectures, site tours and student competitions.
