The Geotechnical Society of Ireland is a special interest group in Engineers Ireland for engineers who work in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, soil and rock mechanics, ground investigations, the geosynthetics industry and general civil engineering. 

It provides members with a professional and social network for learning and developing potential business opportunities.  Members can network with their peers and with representatives from associated industry groups at events organised by the society.

Register of Ground Engineering Professionals (RoGEP)

Chartered Engineers, Associate Engineers, and Engineering Technicians can now apply to join the Register of Ground Engineering Professionals (RoGEP). The register provides external stakeholders, including clients and other professionals, with a means to identify individuals who are suitably qualified and competent in ground engineering.

Joining the register could benefit your career prospects by showing you have specialist ground engineering competences as defined by a growing list of engineering codes and standards.

There are five grades of registration:

  • Registered Ground Engineering Technician (EngTech)
  • Registered Ground Engineering Practitioner (AEng)
  • Registered Ground Engineering Professional (CEng)
  • Registered Ground Engineering Specialist (CEng)
  • Registered Ground Engineering Adviser (CEng)
