La Touche Training is a firm of Solicitors and Barristers who specialise in running training courses for engineers in legal and witness skills. As Ireland's leading legal training provider, we have trained over 80,000 delegates since we were set up in 1995.
Our hands-on, interactive training courses are hugely popular with engineers working in both the public and private sector.
Our clients include every local authority in the country, government departments, private firms and individual experts.
This course is a practical look at the courtroom with emphasis on the role of the witness and tips on how to excel in the witness box. It will enable delegates to present evidence with confidence.
How the adversarial system works
The procedures, order of events and roles of those in the adversarial systems
How to prepare for giving evidence
Taking the oath/affirmation with confidence
Techniques lawyers use in cross-examination and how to handle them
How to give clear, honest and objective evidence
How to make appropriate use of supporting evidence, documents and notes when giving evidence
How to give confident and clear testimony under cross-examination
The course is practical and interactive involving a mix of theory & interactive role-play with delegates getting a cross – examined on a case study related to their area of work. The morning will be spent going through cross examination techniques & how to respond to those techniques. The afternoon will be spent on interactive role-play.
All of our training is conducted by our team of barristers and solicitors. All our trainers are qualified lawyers as well as trained trainers. All of our trainers are very experienced and are skilled with helping delegates to get the most out of each course.
Assessment & certification
All delegates are assessed on the course and are given a certificate on completion of the programme.
