ILDÁNA  provides an array of mainly technical / engineering training courses and consultancy services to the public and private sectors throughout the island of Ireland.

Training aim

The aim is to help participants who already have a good grasp of electricity in industry to build on this and to achieve a better understanding of the issues relating to plant and equipment.

Learning objectives

Understand extended plant networks and the roles of key network components

Understand how variable speed drives operate and their application

Understand relevance of high voltage switchgear on industrial plant

Be able to review motor control circuits and understand same

Understand role of motor control centres and three phase power distribution in plant

Be able to carry out basic load calculations

Understand electrical design criteria to match loads to cable and network capacity

Course outline

A.C. Theory, Power in A.C., Vectors, Volt Drop, Circuit Calculations, Circuit Protection, Power Supplies, Direct Current, Rectifiers, Electrical Safety, Fluorescent Lamps, Meters, Electro-Magnetism, Transformers, Solenoids, Motor Servicing, Induction Motors, Starting Methods, Star Delta, Control Circuits, Power Circuits, Circuit Testing, Fault Finding, Circuit Applications, Case Studies, Brush Motors, Sensors, Safety.

Theory & Practical tests throughout the 2 x days.

Trainer's profile

Eamonn McDonagh C. Eng., M Sc. Energy Management, Trainer with ILDANA TRAINING & CONSULTANCY, was Engineering Manager for the Concentrate Plant at Guinness Ireland where he was in charge of Utilities and Asset Care for the Roast Plant, Grain Handling, Maturation, Fermentation, Evaporation and Racking Plants for Guinness concentrate. He has in in-depth knowledge of the design and safe effective O&M of boilers and steam systems, pumps and pumping design, instrumentation and pneumatics.  He has been delivering training on Steam and its Uses; Pump Maintenance and Overhaul; Basic Instrumentation both within Guinness and as an independent tutor. He tailors individual courses to suit the specific requirement of client companies.
