Training aim

The course aims to up-skill staff within the organisation. Companies can avoid the need to out-source their innovation processes to third parties. In particular, companies will be able to fully implement novel ideas without resourcing constraints or limitations.

Learning objectives

On completion of this course Learners will be able to:

  • Fully understand the potential applications and limitations of A.M.
  • Choose the most suitable A.M. technology for a particular innovation processes
  • Select the most appropriate materials for a particular A.M. application
  • Assess and modify model designs to 3D print most efficiently and achieve best results
  • Use 3D splicing software to process part models for 3D printing  

Course Outline 

Additive Manufacturing (A.M.) is used as a platform for generating ideas, designing, experimenting, innovating and inventing. The focus of this course is on supporting makers to prototype and produce parts using A.M. This programme will teach participants how to bring their innovative ideas to physical proof of concepts and prototypes. This will allow companies to become self-sufficient when it comes to innovation within their organisation. Industry case studies will be presented to show how A.M. can be implemented to reduce costs and to improve process efficiencies.

A unique feature of our courses is the live on-line tutorial sessions offered on most of our courses. Learners are afforded the opportunity to meet and engage with trainers and fellow learners at regular intervals throughout the course in both group and 1 to 1 settings.

Course duration

4 hours. Course is by remote delivery using Canvas LMS and learning is self paced.
