The CPD Certificate in Professional Engineering for graduates is a bespoke graduate training programme specifically designed, in partnership with leading industry employers, to enable graduates to understand and gain the competencies and professional standards expected of them.

Successful participants receive a certificate from Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), which is worth five ECTS credits at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).

The structure and methodology of the programme have been chosen to facilitate the thinking and behaviours towards graduates becoming ‘T-Shaped engineers’, combining their deep technical engineering knowledge with a breadth of knowledge across six non-technical skill areas.

The online delivery of this programme allows graduates to attend from wherever they’re based, and join live, interactive virtual training modules. These modules comprise of: The Essential Skills of a Professional; Time Management & Organisational Skills; Communication & Presentation Skills; An Introduction to Project Management; Innovations in Excel; and Technical Report Writing Skills.

Our first autumn 2023 programme is now almost sold out. Contact programme coordinator Alex Sangster: asangster@engineersireland.ie or to inquire about other start dates in October, or if you’re interested in organising an in-company programme you can contact Marina Tiribelli: (mtiribelli@engineersireland.ie).

What delegates say:

  1. “The CPD Certificate in Professional Engineering has been extremely beneficial to my professional development. The course has helped me to develop the soft skills required to communicate the technical knowledge, that I gained in college, in a professional manner. I would highly recommend this course for all graduates and see it as an essential addition to any graduate programme.” Matthew Davidson, graduate project engineer, Tandem Project Management
  2. “I got the opportunity to attend the CPD certificate in professional engineering classes through my graduate programme. The classes covered a wide range of topics and were very useful for teaching the skills you need when starting out in a new role. I enjoyed each module particularly the Innovations in Excel module. I would highly recommend this course to anybody who is looking to advance their time management, communication, project management and IT skills.” Jennifer Redmond, graduate engineer, Pfizer
  3. “All the modules were really informative. I got to take away a lot of practices to implement at my workplace. The programme was really great, the assignments were really interesting to work on.” Priya Muralidharan, ESB
  4. “The CPD Certificate in Professional Engineering was beneficial in broadening my knowledge of core aspects of engineering. Each class focused on different industry-focused skills, from time management to technical report writing. Working with a group of similarly experienced engineers from different disciplines on real-world tasks also taught me how to look at problems and solutions from different perspectives.” Stephen Watkins, electrical engineer, H&MV Engineering
