Course Overview
This course provides an overview of the origin, development,
and current standards of legislation, rules, and procedures within the
electrical industry, with a particular focus on the Republic of Ireland. It
details the key legislative requirements governing electrical work, including
the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the General Application
Regulations 2007.
Course Aim
This course provides participants with essential knowledge
and practical understanding of the philosophy behind electrical safety rules,
including how these rules are structured and applied in practice. It covers the
fundamentals of electrical safety, basic operational principles, and the
typical roles and responsibilities involved in electrical work. The course also
outlines the processes for planning and executing electrical tasks, and
explores the concept of competence, how it is assessed, developed, and
maintained. Examples of key procedures and documentation, such as risk
assessments, method statements, and permits to work, are also included.
