Course Delivery
This is a virtual classroom in which participants will require access to a webcam and microphone for live sessions with the trainers throughout the day. Participants will receive a login code via email. The course will be delivered between 11:00 and 16:00 with running order and break times outlined in advance.
Who Should Attend?
Chartered Engineers, permanent works designers and project supervisors for design process. It is required that participants have completed the ACEI / Engineers Ireland “Designing for Safety in Construction” (DSC) course OR Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) course.
Programme
Topics covered during the course will include:
- Introduction and Legislation refresher
- Discussion on H&S issues / problems that engineers and PSDPs are encountering day to day
- Discussion of H&S Survey Results
- Workshop No1: Discussion of typical project and typical scenarios
- Case Law and recent lessons
- Workshop No2: Discussion with typical scenarios
- Lessons Learnt – Summary
The course will include a short open book exam at the end.
A certificate confirming participation and passing the exam will be provided.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the module, a participant will be able to:
- Gain a deeper understanding of the practical use of the Desiging for Safety (DSC) and PSDP courses using typical projects and scenarios
- Get up to date information on latest legislation and case law
- Refresh Designing for Safety course content for designers / engineers where applicable
- Refresh competence to act as PSDP a potential client where applicable
The course trainers are all practicing chartered engineers working in consulting engineering design companies experienced in the role of PSDP.
