Course Overview
The Site Visitor Safety Course is intended for consultant engineers and other professionals who are required to visit sites on an occasional basis, but not to undertake construction work. The course familiarises learners with hazards commonly encountered, equips them to protect themselves and others from those hazards, and provides guidance on what to do in a potentially unsafe situation or during an incident onsite.
Course Aim
The aim of the course is to provide a general awareness of health & safety on sites. It is intended to provide industry recognised training that will support the duty of the employer under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 regarding the provision of information, instruction and training to enable employees to carry out their work safely.
Course Content
- Module 1: Identifies the broad categories of site types and describes the general health and safety characteristics of each
- Module 2: Focuses on hazards that visitors are likely to encounter during typical site visits and will provide general guidance on how to avoid or mitigate the risk from those hazards.
- Module 3: Provides guidance on planning your visit to the site. It highlights the importance of assessing the site-specific risks and ensuring you adequately equip yourself to address those risks. The module also provides a general guidance for when you are on site and what to do if you observe an inadequately controlled hazard or encounter and incident.
- The Course Assessment involves a series of questions based on the course content and the learning outcomes.
