National Retrofitting Conference 2026: Tuesday, November 24, Johnstown Estate, Co Meath

The National Retrofitting Conference, in partnership with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) is now in its sixth year.

The 2026 conference will convene key players involved in the government’s ambitious area-based, one-stop-shop approach to retrofitting. More than a quarter of a million (257,000) energy retrofits have been delivered since 2019, with a target of 500,000 by 2030.

In Budget 2026, the government provided a record allocation of €640m for retrofitting to meet a target of 73,000 home energy upgrades this year.

The objective of the conference is to discuss progress to date and to share any learning from the implementation of the programme. It is also relevant to those organisations that may be interested in getting involved.

Speakers include:

  • Ciaran Byrne, director of National Retrofit, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland;
  • Brian Carroll, assistant secretary, Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment;
  • Stuart Hobbs, director of energy services Ireland, SSE Airtricity;
  • Catherine Lonergan, director of customer and commercial, Bord Gáis Energy;
  • Susan Vickers, head of environmental sustainability, Clúid Housing;
  • Dara Stewart, head of delivery, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland;
  • Eamonn Brownlee, head of national retrofit programmes, SSE Airtricity;
  • Lenny Antonelli, project manager, Irish Green Building Council;
  • Deirdre Duffy, CEO, Friends of the Earth.

Key themes of the conference:

  • Update on the National Retrofitting programme;
  • One-stop-shop approach for retrofitting;
  • Case study: retrofitting in the social housing sector;
  • International case study in adopting heat pumps;
  • Developing green skills for energy retrofitting;
  • Public sector buildings retrofitting programme;
  • Energy retrofitting in local authority housing;
  • Developing the retrofitting supply chain in Ireland;
  • Energy retrofitting of commercial buildings;
  • Engaging the construction sector in the retrofitting programme.

There are a limited number of opportunities for interested organisations to partner with the conference as an exhibitor. This is an excellent way for organisations to raise their profile with a key audience of senior decision-makers from across Ireland.
