Innovation, creativity, and sustainability at the heart of STEPS Engineers Week 2023

As STEPS Engineers Week draws to a close for another year, Engineers Ireland and our STEPS team would like to thank our members and the wider engineering community for joining our week-long campaign to support and inspire our future engineering talent.

The core themes of innovation, creativity and sustainability were at the heart of our weeklong celebration of the engineering profession, with primary and secondary school students afforded the opportunity to explore engineering through hands-on activities, workshops, shows and visits from engineering professionals.

Engineers such as Niamh Reddin from Green Rebel and Donal Kissane from Gas Networks Ireland visited Scoil Bhride in Crosshaven to discuss offshore wind energy development, while members of the Thomond region committee showcased their careers as engineers in presentation videos for secondary school pupils.

STEPS Volunteer Engineer and Civil Engineer Sayed Ahmad Saeed and his colleagues from DBFL Consulting Engineers also visited a number of schools around the country as part of their STEPS Engineers Week celebration. Sayed has been involved in STEPS programs since 2016 and has led DBFL’s internal STEPS team for five years.

We would like to thank all engineers and engineering employers who got involved in this year’s celebration of the profession, including Arup, Intel Ireland, MSD Carlow, Medtronic, AECOM, Eirgrid, Palliare, John Cradok, Stryker, Pfizer, Liebherr Container Cranes, Gas Networks Ireland, Green Rebel, DBFL Consulting Engineers, Louth County Council, Terex, Irish Manufacturing Research, McAree Engineering, Murphy Group, Waterways Ireland, Uisce Éireann, Wuxi Biologics, Huawei, Modular Global, IN2 Engineering, TOBIN Consulting Engineers, Colas, Dublin City Council, Symetri Europe, Waterman-Moylan Consulting Engineers, McMahon Engineers, Merck, Energia, Kirby Group and Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions.
