Engineers Ireland requires its members to undertake and record 35 hours of CPD activities each year with the exception of student members and retired members.

CPD includes a wide variety of learning activities, many of which are free. Ask yourself if the learning activity contributes to your professional development. If the answer is yes, then it counts as CPD. At Engineers Ireland, we have grouped CPD activities into the following six categories.
Lunch & learn presentations; work demonstrations; formal induction training; workplace knowledge-sharing.
Lectures, workshops or site visits; committee participation; preparing/delivering a presentation; visiting schools/colleges to promote engineering; volunteering; earning a professional title.
Structured reading; structured viewing; researching, writing and/or publishing a journal article or paper.
Acting as a mentor or coach; Being mentored or coached.
Attending courses, webcasts, seminars or conferences; preparing/delivering a presentation; undertaking e-learning.
Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD, Diploma, Certificate.
